The short version
Your vocabulary progress is stored on your device. If you use iCloud, Apple privately syncs that progress between your own devices. We do not sell personal information, use advertising trackers, or require a Wordkin account.
Information stored on your device
The app stores the choices and progress needed to work for you: selected categories and difficulty, words learned or saved, review history, streaks, courses, custom words, settings, and the status of a lifetime purchase. This information remains on your device unless you use iCloud sync.
iCloud sync
When iCloud is available, Wordkin may sync a compact snapshot of your learning progress, saved and custom words, courses, and preferences to your private iCloud database. This is handled through your Apple account; Wordkin does not create a separate account or receive access to your Apple ID. You can disable iCloud for the app in iOS Settings. The app remains usable offline.
Optional features that use your device
Pronunciation practice uses your microphone and Apple’s on-device speech tools only after you choose to begin a practice attempt. Wordkin uses the result to give pronunciation feedback. The app’s word-memory aids and personalized examples are generated locally. Apple Intelligence features appear only on supported devices and only when you choose to use them.
Online dictionary lookups
When you choose to load live reference definitions, the word you look up is sent to the Free Dictionary API (dictionaryapi.dev). The app also lets you open optional reference links to Merriam-Webster, Wiktionary, and Thesaurus.com. Those services have their own privacy practices; this policy does not govern them. Core word content is included in the app and does not need an internet connection.
Notifications
Daily reminders and streak nudges are scheduled locally on your device. Wordkin does not use a push-notification service or collect a device push token. You can turn reminders off at any time in the app or in iOS Settings.
Purchases
Lifetime Access is processed by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive or store your payment card details. Apple’s purchase records determine whether Lifetime Access is available to you.
Children
Wordkin is a general-audience learning app and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
